Do you remember getting summer reading assignments when you were a kid?
Even though those were pretty terrible at the time, one of our favorite things to do now in the summer is to kick back with a great book and learn something new. Of course, FoodTruckrs like you are busier than ever during the summer—so we decided to instead share some of our favorite podcasts with you.
We particularly love podcasts because they’re so easy to listen to on the go. You can easily fit in an episode while you’re at the gym, driving to the grocery store, or even cleaning things up at the end of the night.
This list of eight great podcasts for food truck owners will give you plenty to listen to all summer—and help you feel more productive than spending another night jamming out to ‘80s rock.
America’s Test Kitchen is the podcast version of the well-known test kitchen’s cookbooks, television shows, and magazines. Their mission? As they say, “to develop the absolute best recipes for all your favorite foods.” Their methods? Interviews with famous chefs and guest experts and segments on kitchen equipment, cooking tips, and taste tests. You don’t want to miss this one!
Keeping your food truck running is sometimes one of the toughest parts of the job—after all, you’re a chef, not a mechanic! Fortunately, the guys at CarStuff are here to make your life a little easier. Listen in as they talk about everything from why batteries die in the winter to how the Kelley Blue Book works.
Social Media Examiner is one of our favorite websites for advice and tips on making the most of your social media pages—and their podcast is packed full of just as many awesome lessons. Best of all? The Social Media Examiner Show is broken up into bite-sized episodes that are typically between five and ten minutes long, making it incredibly easy to listen whenever you have a small window of free time.
We love all the awesome stories and interviews you can find on The Food Truck Empire Podcast! From in-depth lessons to advice from inspiring entrepreneurs, this show has tons of great material for food truck owners at any stage of their businesses.
KCRW’s Good Food takes a unique approach to podcasting—they’re exploring current events, culture, history, and social issues all through the lens of food. If you’re interested in the role that food plays in peoples’ lives, you’ll be fascinated by the unique topics this podcast takes on.
Host John Jantsch of The Duct Tape Marketing Podcast regularly interviews experts and thought leaders in the fields of business and marketing. We love this show for the wide range of topics and diverse guests featured every week.
This 15-episode series is a few years old, but the lessons included are as vital today as they were then. In Seth Godin’s Startup School, author and business expert Seth Godin leads a workshop of 30 entrepreneurs in building and running their dream businesses.
You didn’t think we would end this list without mentioning our own podcast, did you? Of course not! FoodTruckr School is the definitive podcast for current and aspiring food truck owners who want to take their businesses to the next level. If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to get accepted to a food truck festival, what life is really like out on the streets, or what it would be like to be a contestant on “The Great Food Truck Race,” then this is the podcast for you!
Summer is the busiest time of the year for most FoodTruckrs—and we’d love to know what you’re up to! Are you serving at some awesome festivals? Working on creating some brand new recipes? Or studying up to launch a new avenue of your business in the fall? Share your summer plans in the comments below!
