There aren’t enough hours in the day … or are there?

If you are a motivated business owner working in the food truck industry, then there are more than enough hours in the day to make all of your goals and dreams (or on a simpler scale, your tasks) come true, but you have to be willing to hustle now. Just remember: The more you hustle now, the less you will have to hustle in the future, or that is at least the idea.

Nonetheless, below you will find three ways to make more time in the food truck industry.

3. Start Delegating Some Of Your Work

This is one of the most simple ways to add more time to your day, and it is also a great approach when it comes to getting more done in less time. For example, if you delegate work to your trusted food truck employees, and then do other work while they are doing the delegated work, you will literally be getting done with more work than before … but in the same amount of time. Or, you could simply be more of a manager, and have less work to do after delegating work.

Nonetheless, delegating work is a great way for food truck business owners to add more time to their days. It also gives your employees more responsibilities, which can make them feel more involved when it comes to the big picture.

2. Work When Other People Aren’t

How is working when other people aren’t possibly going to add more time to your days? After all, it’s more work! Let us explain.

Reason No. 1 Why You Should Work When Others Aren’t: If you do things that others aren’t doing right now, then you will do things, such as taking vacations/living the life you always wanted to live, when others are working. While you will be sacrificing some of your valuable time now, it will pay off in a big way in the end. This extra work is how you are going to make your food truck business stand out.

Reason No. 2 Why You Should Work When Others Aren’t: It will take stress off of you because you, ideally, won’t be working during normal business hours, so you can take your time and make sure you are doing a great job, as opposed to trying to get more done during the workday when you have 100 things going on at your food truck. What in the world can you work on for your business when your truck is closed? That’s a great question, but here’s the answer: Social media, marketing, menu creation, coming up with the work schedule for employees, finding new locations and the list could go on and on.

The key thing with this step: While you might be working more now, eventually your business will be where you want it to be, and you will be able to sit back (in a sense) and not work as hard as you used to because your food truck business is so established. You could also keep your foot on the gas pedal and grow your business even more.

1. Stop Doing Unnecessary Tasks

This is a tough thing for business owners to figure out, because many business owners like to keep busy, and they think everything is important — well, at least in the beginning. Over time, you should have a pretty good idea of what works and what doesn’t work, and as a result, you should be able to achieve the feat that is no longer doing unnecessary tasks.

For example, let’s say you have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts for your mobile kitchen business, but only the Facebook and Twitter accounts are seeing results in the form of gaining more followers and engagement. Instead of posting on all of those sites, why not just post on the ones that are working? Why not spend your social media efforts in areas in which you know are succeeding?

Now, apply that same concept to your entire food truck business. While you will likely be throwing plenty of ingredients, if you will, at the wall when you are first starting out, over time you will see what works and what doesn’t work (you will find out what actually sticks to the wall). Once again, eliminate the things that don’t work. Don’t just do things because you think you have to. Do things because they are furthering your business, and making an impact. That’s how you create more time in the food truck industry as a business owner.
