How A Food Truck Owner Can Stay Ahead Of The Schedule

Whether you are a food truck owner or a 9-to-5 worker, it is crucial to stay ahead of your schedule. This isn’t always the easiest thing to do, especially if you are a food truck owner and find yourself working 12-hour days.

There are plenty of ways to stay ahead of your schedule, though. For starters, owners need to get their minds right, not panic and get to work. Then, they can follow the four steps below.

How A Food Truck Owner Can Stay Ahead Of The Schedule

  • Plan, Plan, Plan
  • If You Can Do Something Today, Then Do It Today
  • Delegate Work When You Can
  • Make Deadlines

Plan, Plan, Plan

Planning is perhaps the most important step. Without a plan, you are going at your day blindly, and you won’t actually know how much time certain tasks will take, or how to approach your day in general. If you don’t plan, then you don’t have a schedule. In this case, a mental plan or schedule is not good enough.

You need to write down anything and everything that takes place in your day. This is how you can stay on top of your busy life, and ahead of your schedule.

If You Can Do Something Today, Then Do It Today

It is so easy to push something off until the next day. This might be a great way to temporarily feel less overwhelmed, but it is also a great way to make your next day tougher. Not to mention, if you get into the habit of pushing something off until the next day, then, well, that habit will become permanent.

If you can do something today, then do it today. That is how you stay ahead of your schedule.

Delegate Work When You Can

If you are really overwhelmed, then try delegating work to some of your all-star employees. There is nothing wrong with doing this. Your employees are there to work, after all. This will not only make your life easier in the short-term (and long-term), but it will give your employees more responsibilities, which can make said employees feel more involved with your food truck business.

Make Deadlines

If you really want to get ahead of your schedule, then you have to make deadlines, and hold yourself accountable to said deadlines. Taking this a step further, don’t make your deadlines the last possible minute, if that makes sense.

For instance, if you need to take inventory by Friday morning, meaning that is the last possible minute this task can be completed by, then make your deadline for Thursday morning, afternoon or evening. When a deadline is approaching fast, we tend to feel overwhelmed, which is why it is so important to get things done well before the deadline hits. This is also how we get the most out of ourselves, and make quality a top priority.

Stay ahead of your deadlines, your schedule and your life.
