You’re a food truck owner, and as a food truck owner, you aren’t afraid to work 60 hours a week … at minimum. While it is easy to forget about the world outside of your food truck business, you can’t forget about the outside world, especially if you plan on having some form of life outside of your business.

In the spirit of that thinking, below you will find three things food truck owners can’t forget to do.

3 Things Food Truck Owners Can’t Forget To Do

  • Take Breaks/Vacations
  • Spend Quality Time With Friends And Family
  • Work On Passion Projects Outside Of The Business

Take Breaks/Vacations

Many food truck owners are afraid to take their foot off the gas pedal, and many food truck entrepreneurs have an entrepreneurial mindset, so hustle is always the name of the game. Those are both awesome mentalities, but as a food truck owner, you need to learn how to take breaks throughout the day and vacations every now and then.

You are in this for the long haul, so if you are work, work, work all of the time, you will burn out. No matter what industry we are talking about, everyone takes breaks on a daily basis, and food truck owners should — and need to — as well.

On top of that, once your business is running smoothly, and assuming you either have enough money to close down shop for a couple of days, or have an all-star manager who can take over for a short period of time, you have to get away via a vacation (even if it’s just a weekend getaway!). If you are constantly working, then what’s the point? You might love to be a chef in this industry, but you also have to enjoy life outside of work!

Spend Quality Time With Friends And Family

Everyone needs downtime (this should be an everyday occurrence), and there is no better way to spend your free time than by spending quality time with friends and family. We understand you are going to be extremely busy when you first open up a food truck business (that’s an understatement), but your friends and family need some of your attention as well.

Think of it this way: Hanging out with friends and family will help you get the mind right — and fresh — which will lead to you being refreshed when you go back to work the next day. Entrepreneurs are all about work-life balance, which includes family/friend time, and food truck owners should be as well.

Work On Passion Projects Outside Of The Business

You’re No. 1 passion might be cooking food, and it might not be; however, no matter which side you stand on, you have to make time for working on your passion projects outside of the business. These passions could consist of anything and everything, such as writing, painting, keeping up with your fitness, philanthropy, playing a particular sport and the list could go on and on.

If you don’t make room for your passion projects, no matter what they might be, you will never become the person you were meant to be/want to be.

If you are a food truck owner, and if you plan on reaching your full potential in every department, then don’t forget to incorporate the three things above.

Looking to start your own food truck? Prestige Food Trucks can do wonders for you in that department.
