The 12 Days of FoodTruckr: 2 New Types of Trucks

On the second day of Christmas, FoodTruckr’s giving you…

Two New Types of Trucks!

Food trucks are clearly the bread and butter of FoodTruckr (har, har), but we also love supporting people who are harnessing the power of the mobile movement to create their own unique business opportunities around the country. So today, in honor of the second day of FoodTruckr, we’d like to give you a quick peek at two super cool new types of trucks that are taking their services to the street.

1. Mobile Hair Salons

Ever had a tough time making it to the barber shop on your lunch hour? Or do you know someone like an elderly grandparent or handicapped neighbor who has a tough time getting out of the house for a haircut? Now, mobile hair salons are here to bring their services to the people.

Trucks like Onsite Haircuts serve Silicon Valley professionals who don’t have time to make it to a styling appointment, while The Hair Taxi provides cuts, styling, waxing, and blow drying to residents in the Miami area. Though some people might still prefer to stick with the same stylist they’ve been visiting for years, mobile hair salons offer major convenience and a totally unique experience to anyone who’s willing to give something different a try. We love the ingenuity of this idea, and can’t wait to see what types of similar services other people will come up with next!

2. Fashion Trucks

We’ve shared a couple fashion trucks with you before on the FoodTruckr Facebook page because we especially love this new trend. Trucks like The Fashion Mobile in Minnesota and Wanderlust in Portland, OR are actual shops on wheels! These creative truck owners have converted their vehicles into small retail places that have enough room for customers to come inside and shop around their selection of clothing, accessories, and shoes. Whether they choose to make regular truck stops like food trucks do or appear solely at special events and home parties, fashion trucks offer a totally unique shopping experience that’s a lot more personal and a whole lot more fun than fighting the crowds at the mall. We hope this up and coming trend will stick around for awhile—and eventually expand to all sorts of other unique businesses.
