August 2018

Whether you fancy yourself a food truck owner, entrepreneur or chef, there will be one constant — you will come face to face with tough times over the course of your career (and some more than others). It is inevitable.

That is why mobile kitchen owners always have to be finding new ways to stay motivated. If the tough times are really, really bad, then it would be easy to just give up and quit, despite the fact that you have poured so much time, money and effort into this business venture.

Now, these tough times will come in many different forms. For example, your business might not be making as much money as it should be making, or you could have trouble booking catering gigs. You might even have to deal with bad employees. Realistically, these tough times could be anything and everything.

With that in mind, we came up with three ways food truck owners can stay motivated during these tough times — no matter what they might be — and they can be found below.

Up Your Planning Game

When times of distress arise, and you aren’t where you want to be in this industry as a result, it is essential to up your planning game.

After all, the more planning you do, the more prepared you will be. Not only that, but if you put a solid plan into place, one that is actually manageable, then you will know if you can make your grand solution a reality. For example, if you have to make $2,000 more in sales in any given month, you need to put a plan into place to see if that is actually possible. Assuming it is, then you make your plan, and then follow through with it.

The same thing rings true with your goals. With goals, you come up with a challenging — yet attainable — goal, then you get detailed by adding real-life figures, if you will. Next, you come up with a plan and brainstorm ways to make the goal come true. Then you attach a deadline. After that, you go out and achieve!

When times get tough, it’s important to come up with a new plan to get you out of the tough time.

Surround Yourself With Positive People — And Mindsets

When things are going bad, it’s easy to just feel down, and be negative about everything in the process. Do not take that route.

Instead, start surrounding yourself with positive people, and also incorporate positive mindsets into your life. Start looking at the glass half full. Of course, you don’t want to be in denial, especially if your business’ numbers are starting to sink. The key is to be positive about the situation, and incorporate that all-star plan (you know, like what we mentioned above).

Now, if you decide to hang out with negative people, and incorporate negative mindsets, then you will think there is no turning back. You will not get out of a pickle if you think negatively. Negative people and mindsets tend to take you down like that.

Motivated

If you have negative thoughts, then your situation will become worse, because you will only focus on the negative occurrences in your life.

Always remember, the people you associate with will rub off on you. Therefore, if you associate with negative people, you will likely become a negative person as well; however, if you surround yourself with positive people, then you will likely become a positive person.
