  • Consistent Schedules
  • Implement A Social Media Strategy
  • Release A New Meal Or Summer Treat
  • Put In The Work Now
  • Add New Services
  • Try To Branch Out
  • Implement A Morning Routine
  • Reflect On Last Summer

Better Mindsets

While this isn’t always the easiest strategy to implement since you can’t just change your mood at the snap of your fingers, it’s important to keep in mind that you’re the boss, manager and leader at your food truck business, and your employees are likely going to play off of your mood. Therefore, it’s best to incorporate positive mindsets.

In general, make your food truck a place people want to visit, not just because of the food but because it’s a great atmosphere as well.

Consistent Schedules

The idea around this: So people know where you are during Summer 2018 and employees don’t have to guess when they work.

With that in mind, it’s not always easy to determine when you need your employees to work, and schedule changes and requests are part of the business. Whether it’s a weekly or monthly schedule, just make sure you and your employees are on the same page so your business runs smoothly all summer long.

And if you can tell your customers where you’re going to be — and when — ahead of time, that will surely help. It’s little things like this that help to build trust with your customers, and it could also lead to you attracting and gaining new ones.

Implement A Social Media Strategy

Some owners don’t want to worry about social media and marketing — they want to cook great food and serve customers. With that said, the idea behind social media and keeping up with it is attracting more customers, keeping your current customers informed and possibly adding additional services, such as giveaways.

If nothing else, it’s a good practice to let your food truck customers know where you’re going to be, and while you likely post that type of information on your website, sometimes it’s just easier for your customers to check their social media accounts and receive that type of information. Not only that but you can learn more about your customers on social media, and you can also keep them engaged and bring customer service to a new level.

Release A New Meal Or Summer Treat

We aren’t telling you what to do with your menu and meals — we simply want to say that a new meal or summer treat could drive more customers to your mobile kitchen this summer, especially if you have responsive social media networks and you also bring marketing into the mix.

If nothing else, it gives your customers another great option and it also allows you to get creative in the kitchen with your own summer hit, if you will.

Put In The Work Now

This might sound like a no-brainer, but in no time, the heat is going to get brutal and the food truck lines are going to get long. While it would be easy to complain about these types of things, just be happy that customers are flowing in and your business is thriving.

Put in the work now (during the busy season) so you don’t have to put so much pressure on yourself when things get slower during the offseason. Implement all of your all-star strategies and make sure you don’t get complacent.

Make all of your food truck dreams a reality by working harder (or smarter) than you’ve ever worked before.

Adding New Services

Adding new services might not be for every business, but you can stand out by adding a new service this summer, and these services can be anything and everything.

You can finally add a catering service, an order-online service or whatever it might be. The key is adding another service that’s not only going to be profitable for your business but helpful for your customers as well. In theory, this service should make things more helpful for everyone involved and add another layer to your business.

Try To Branch Out

It’s important to get out of your comfort zone. If you’ve always wanted to set up shop at a downtown area or festival, then try to achieve that goal this summer. Likewise, if you’ve always wanted to incorporate catering to your business, then try landing a catering job this summer. Make Summer 2018 the season you went for it.

Branching out could lead to your food truck serving and retaining more customers, and it could also spice things up and make your food truck journey that much more enjoyable.

We all get stuck in our ways from time to time, but it’s important to incorporate new strategies when things get stale so you can continue to achieve success.

Implement A Morning Routine

Morning routines aren’t for everyone, and we understand that, but think of this as a when-you-wake-up routine. The point in having a routine when you wake up is so you aren’t scrambling in the morning and trying to catch up. It’s something that helps you get your mind fresh and also helps to eliminate stress. It also helps you prioritize what’s important in your life. Of course, the key is creating a morning routine that is right for you and one you can stick to.

Some people might prefer to go through their days in a different manner, and we completely understand that, but we also believe a morning routine of some kind can help you get the most out of your time. It can also lead to you being ready for work from a mental standpoint. People incorporate these types of routines for different reasons, but the main purpose is to get the most out of the journey that is life.

Reflect On Last Summer

Now would be a good time to look at your food truck numbers and strategies from last year. What did you do last summer that worked? What did you do last summer that didn’t work? Is there a certain meal that sold better than normal or a certain meal that didn’t sell at all? Maybe you incorporated a summer deal that did wonders?

Take some time to reflect on last summer so you can conquer Summer 2018.

Maybe you had a great summer last year from a sales and mood standpoint and you don’t want to change anything — that’s completely fine.

The key is making changes, whether small or big, so you can get the most out of your locations, catering jobs and food truck events all summer long.

Reflecting is a powerful tool that we don’t incorporate enough, so make sure you reflect now and throughout the rest of the year as well. It could go a long way, to say the least.

Always Be Looking At Your Why — And Your Goals

While it’s great to look at motivational quotes and videos in hopes of an immediate boost, it’s best to look at your why … and your goals as well.

Why did you want to become a food truck owner in the first place? Let that passion drive you during Summer 2018. What are your goals for this year? Are you on track?

Many people go through the motions and their why and goals start to take a backseat, which is why it’s important to always be analyzing these things so you stay on track and motivated. Incorporating your goals into your schedule is another great strategy.

Regardless, be grateful for what you have and where you are, analyze your why and goals … and then let those types of ingredients fuel you.

Good luck during Summer 2018, FoodTruckrs!

We hope you make all of your goals and dreams a reality, and we also hope you have a blast along the way.
