Business Bites: Navigating the Latest Facebook Page Upgrade, Food Hackathons, and Skipping the DMV

Welcome back to Business Bites, a bi-weekly column with articles and tidbits we’ve come across in the last two weeks.

Facebook Updates Pages: Here’s What Changed

Facebook loves to make changes quicker than it takes for an avocado to turn brown. Their most recent target were a staple of food truck marketing—the business Page. Buffer put together an excellent post detailing all of the changes, where to find useful stats, and what you can do to customize your page. It’s a must-read for all food trucks.

Getting Started with Instagram

Once you’ve gotten confident using Facebook and Twitter, you may find yourself considering Instagram—the social network where gorgeous food photos reign supreme. This post from Buffer will get you up and running in no time.

Hacking Food

There’s an intriguing event beginning today and running over the weekend in New York City. Hack//Dining is looking to bring restauranteurs together with designers and developers to create change in the dining experience. You can learn more about this unique hackathon over on Fast Company. This event is certainly up the food trucker alley—combining a love of food and experience with an appreciation for technology. I can’t wait to see what comes out of the event.

Skip the DMV (Yeah, You Read that Right)

I’ve been a long-time fan of Lifehacker, simply because every once in a while, they manage to blow my mind. Most recent case in point: their post on a little-known feature of AAA. In some states (including my beloved Minnesota), you can skip the DMV and renew your drivers license at (an infinitely friendlier) AAA office. Mind. blown. See if your state is on the list.
