3 Basic Scheduling Tips Food Truck Entrepreneurs Need To Follow

  • Knock Out The Top Priorities First
  • Try To Incorporate Everything
  • Plan For Missteps/Setbacks

Knock Out The Top Priorities First

So many successful people are early risers. They wake up before the sun comes out and start knocking out some of their top priorities, and mobile kitchen owners need to follow along as well.

No, you can’t necessarily open up your truck earlier (unless that is part of the plan, and you tell your customers), but you can still get a head start. Everyone’s top priorities are different — that is no mystery.

Nonetheless, start waking up earlier than usual, if you please, and start knocking out those top priorities before you do anything else. If you do this, then you will surely cut some stress out of your life, and daily obstacles that arise out of nowhere will be much more manageable.

Try To Incorporate Everything

This is an area where a lot of people come up short, and then they end up traveling along a different path than what their initial schedule stated.

If you are going to follow a schedule every single day, which is one of the best things you can do to get the most out of your time/day, then you need to incorporate every last detail. Incorporate breaks, when you are traveling from food truck stop to food truck stop, when you are prepping food — everything.

A lot of people just make a to-do list, which features things that need to be done throughout the day. While that is better than nothing, it leaves a lot to be desired, and can be very misleading. After all, one item on a to-do list could end up taking more time than three other items.

By incorporating everything you do throughout the day, you will know what each day holds. That is how you achieve success. While mystery is one of the many beauties in life, your schedule should not be a guessing game.

Plan For Missteps/Setbacks

Unfortunately, no matter how much you plan, you cannot plan for everything. And by that, we mean setbacks will take place every day. One task will take longer than expected because of distractions, or you might not be that focused. A customer dispute could end up taking up a good portion of time. Heck, something could end up breaking at your truck.Food Truck

While you can’t plan for everything, try to leave some leeway in your schedule where you think is necessary. Over time, you will become an expert in this department, because you will know the problems that could arise, the distractions you will face. Until you get to that point, you have to keep making adjustments to your schedule. Until you get to that point, you have to plan for missteps/setbacks where you see fit.

The key takeaway here: You can create the perfect schedule, but missteps and setbacks are going to rear their ugly heads, so you have to be quick on your feet and be ready to adapt.
