FoodTrucker Heroes: Where Ya At Matt

From their tasty, lovingly homemade ingredients to their easy-to-follow location updates, some food trucks just get it. This week’s FoodTruckr Hero—Where Ya At Matt—is one of those trucks.

Where Ya At Matt claims to be “bringing New Orleans soul food to the streets of Seattle,” a goal we can truly get behind. Every item on their menu is made fresh and created with the echoes of good old-fashioned Southern cookin’. The truck’s owner, Matt, grew up in New Orleans helping his mother and grandmother in the kitchen and fishing with his father and grandfather. Visitors to the website are greeted with Matt’s friendly smile and a healthy dose of Southern charm.

Here are three things we’re loving about Where Ya At Matt’s approach to feel-good food truckin’:

1. The Food

Man, oh man—from their wide variety of po’ boys to their muffulettas and gumbo, this truck offers a whole host of traditional New Orleans fare. Fans can round off their meals with a heaping portion of jambalaya, a side of cornbread or red beans and rice, and delicious, deep fried and sugary beignets for dessert.

2. Their Focus on Fans

We all know how important social media is to connecting with your fans, and Where Ya At Matt treats their loyal followers well. With around 7,000 Facebook fans and more than 5,000 Twitter followers at the time of press, these FoodTruckrs have found the recipe for social media success. Frequent updates, lots of shared photos, giveaways, and regular location check-ins keep their fans engaged and coming back for more.

3. True Professional Appeal

A lot of food trucks rock their menus and social media updates, but fail to ever develop a truly professional online appearance. Where Ya At Matt, however, has created a respectable and well curated online brand. They have a truly fantastic food truck website, replete with links to press coverage, catering information, location updates, photos, an engaging “About” section, and a full menu. If you’re looking for inspiration to improve your truck’s website, definitely check out this heroic site.

With a focus on quality and a true commitment to their fans, this truck has earned a spot in our FoodTruckr Heroes Hall of Fame—and in our hearts. Way to go, Where Ya At Matt! We can’t wait to see where your truck goes next.
